1973 Mercedes Benz 280CE W114 restored by Kienle Automobiltechnik
This Mercedes Benz W114 280CE available in Singapore was originally under the ownership of a Mercedes Benz dealer from 1973 to 1975 in the UK before being purchased by its first owner in 1983. The original owner's brother briefly took the reins before stowing the car away in storage from 1984 to 2012.
In 2013, the previous owner found the car and seized the opportunity to become the W114's next proud owner, acquiring the vehicle with just 52,000 miles on the odometer. This acquisition joined his collection, which also featured a matching W123 280CE and an R107 SLC.
Recognising the need for a comprehensive restoration, the owner entrusted the W114 to Kienle Automobiltechnik in 2014. The restoration process, executed by Kienle's skilled specialists, encompassed every vital aspect of the vehicle. From the engine, axles, chassis, and brakes to the fuel system, underfloor, exhaust, interior, body, and chrome elements, each component received meticulous attention to restore the car to its original glory.
Following the completion of the restoration, the vehicle lived its life for another 1000 miles before it was purchased from the UK in 2021 and shipped to Singapore. Since its arrival, the W114 has been stored in a controlled environment, maintaining optimal temperature and humidity conditions. Currently boasting just 53,000 miles (85,000KM) on the odometer, the car reflects the careful preservation efforts by our storage team.
As we delve into the narrative of this vintage masterpiece, it becomes evident that the collaboration between Mr. Frost and Kienle Automobiltechnik has given the 1973 Mercedes Benz W114 280CE a second lease on life. The careful restoration process has not only brought the car back to its original specifications but has also ensured its continued legacy as a symbol of Mercedes Benz's timeless design and engineering.
Beyond the sentimental and aesthetic value, it's worth noting the financial aspect of owning such a meticulously restored classic. A low-mileage example, combined with a comprehensive restoration by a renowned specialist like Kienle, adds a layer of collectibility that transcends the ordinary. The investment potential of such a vehicle is undeniable, as the market for well-preserved vintage Mercedes Benz cars continues to grow.
